RCMUN Conference Requirements
How can I attend an RCMUN conference?
To apply to an MUN conference an application is required. Due to the popularity of MUN conferences, it has been generally noted that there are more applications than the organization has been able to fund. Therefore, the executive board of the club has a policy of selecting participants based on a set of guidelines and criteria after application submissions. Outlined below with the objective of making the process fair, equal, and open to all are the fundamental selection criteria for conferences. There is always room for new people and past experience does not necessarily provide any advantage.
Attendance:
In order to continue the tradition of a committed and capable model UN team. It is important for the members to support one another and have a good relationship. It is for this this reason, that attendance is fundamental to be a part of the traveling team representing the college. Delegates will be expected to arrive to their committees in a timely and orderly manner. The executive committee is free to deduce that if a member cannot arrive to meetings on time, they will be tardy to committee during a conference.
Mock Debate:
Members chosen for participation in a conference will be required to attend two mock conferences. Failure to attend can potentially lead to having the chosen participant’s selection revoked. There are four skills we aim at strengthening among those who participate in these mock conferences.
Section 1: There speaking ability and frequency of participation
Section 2: Grasp and understanding of issues
Section 3: Compliance to parliamentary procedure
Section 4: Ability to create constructive and in depth resolutions
